The polling percentage recorded was 80.88. Nine candidates are in the fray. Prominent among them are Legislative council deputy chairman Marithibbegowda from JD(S), M Lakshmana from the Congress, and B. Niranjanmurthy from BJP. Dr S.B.M. Prasanna, A.H. Gopalakrishna, K. Tulasappa, Dr Mahadev, M.N. Ravishankar and P.A. Sharath Rai are in the fray as independents.
