Jai Bheem Bharat Party starts padayatra opposing houses to poor in Amaravati
Vijayawada: Jai Bheem Bharat Party founder president and advocate Jada Sravan Kumar launched a padayatra, symbolising his opposition to the allocation of houses to the poor under the YSR Congress government's Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu scheme in the R5 zone of Amaravati. The padayatra commenced with the garlanding of the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and is set to take place from Tullur to Smritivanam.
Speaking on the occasion, Sravan Kumar questioned the rationale behind the YSRC leaders granting houses to the poor in Amaravati, previously referred to as a 'crematorium and graveyard.' He reminded everyone that members of the YSRC, including state ministers and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, had criticised Amaravati in the past, branding it as an abandoned place and a graveyard.
Sravan Kumar expressed his disappointment over the YSRC government's betrayal of the farmers who had contributed their land for the construction of the new capital, Amaravati. He declared that his padayatra aimed to show support for these farmers.
Furthermore, Sravan Kumar warned that the farmers and residents of Amaravati would express their discontent through the power of their votes in the upcoming election, as a response to the YSRC government halting the world-class construction of Amaravati city. He alleged that the YSRC government had attempted to hinder the padayatra, but the leaders of the Jai Bheem Bharat Party sought legal recourse by approaching the High Court. Eventually, the High Court granted permission for the padayatra.
