Chandrababu Naidu Arrested
Vijayawada: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam chief N Chandrababu Naidu was on Saturday arrested by the AP Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in connection with a corruption case. According to the reports, Chandrababu Naidu was shifted to Nandyal Hospital for a medical examination, following which he will be produced before the court and later will be shifted to Vijayawada. The TD leaders and cadres coming onto roads all over AP State hence the police deployed police pickets at the houses of TD leaders.
Recently, Chandrababu Naidu had claimed that he would be arrested very soon and his fear turned true with the arrest. Chandrababu Naidu during the early hours of Saturday in connection with the Rs 371 crore skill development scam. The arrest took place at the RK function hall in Nandyal where Chandrababu Naidu was staying during his visit to Nandyal. The police took Chandrababu Naidu into custody amid dramatic scenes with the TDP cadre objecting to the arrest of their leader.
An arrest warrant to Chandrababu Naidu was served under Section 50 (1) (2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in the wee hours of Saturday, as the former chief minister was resting in his vanity van following a public address in Andhra Pradesh's Nandyal city. The police said that sections imposed against Naidu are non-bailable.
In connection with the case, the police said all details and materials were provided to the court. Naidu agreed to cooperate with the police and would be taken in his convoy while his security would be allowed to accompany him.
Naidu said that he is fighting on the issues of the public but the police created havoc before arresting him. He said that the government killed democracy. He claimed that his name was not mentioned in the FIR but the police did not give proper information. He demanded police to prove his guilt before arresting him. Naidu asked the public and TD leaders and cadres to be patient and hoped he will get justice.
Ganta Srinivasa Rao and his son arrested
The CID sleutths have also arrested TDP MLA and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and his son in connection with the skill development scam. Ganta served as the minister to the relevant department during Chandrababu Naidu's tenure as the Chief Minister.
