Will get to know woes first hand, says K Chandrasekhar Rao

He told them to beat corrupt officials with chappals, while addressing Singareni Collieries workers at Pragathi Bhavan.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday issued some strange instructions to the people of Telangana state.

He told them to beat corrupt officials with chappals, while addressing Singareni Collieries workers at Pragathi Bhavan.

“This time, you have elected us again and we are in power. This time, this victory should be of workers and not workers’ unions. All these years, the victory was of workers’ unions but this time it should be of workers,” he said.

Mr Rao promised to go on a ‘Singareni yatra’ in the next 20 days to see for himself the problems faced by the workers and resolve them on the spot.

“I will visit all the Singareni mines. I will check my blood pressure in the hospitals you visit. Earlier, the membership fee in the workers’ union was Rs 10 per month, which has now been increased to Rs 20. The unions collect Rs 13 lakh fee per month from 53,000 workers. Why should they collect a fee? For whose benefit is it used? I will ensure that the fee is no more than Rs 1,” he said.

The CM said he will inaugurate six new underground mines, which will provide employment to 8,000 staff. He went on to shower other benefits on the workers who had voted for his party’s union.
