Over 44.42 lakh set to vote in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: District election officer Ronald Rose, the GHMC commissioner, on Monday said that the model code of conduct was now in force, with poll schedule announced, and as per the final voter list, over 44.42 lakh voters from the district will exercise their franchise on November 30.
In a press conference, where police commissioner C.V. Anand was present, Rose said: “According to the final voter list published on October 4 in the district, there are 44,42,458 voters, out of which 22,79,617 are male, 21,62,541 are female and 300 are others. Of them, service voters are 404, NRI voters are 847 and disabled are 24,163.”
Rose said that the first level check of the EVMs has been completed and secured. “Awareness is being created about EVM and VVPAT (voter verifiable paper audit trail).”
He said, “A control room has been set up at the head office of GHMC to clear the doubts of the voters. Toll-free number, 1800-599-2999, will work for 24 hours. Arrangements have been made at the GHMC head office to give speedy single-window permission to political parties and contesting candidates through the Suvidha Centre.”
Rose said that permissions for using air space, helipads, commercial spaces, organising rallies, setting up loudspeakers and holding public meeting is mandatory.
He said: “Ninety flying squads have been formed to prevent smuggling of money, liquor and money. A video surveillance team has been formed for each of the 15 constituencies, to videograph the rallies and meetings held by political parties.”
