Senior AP leaders promoting sons, daughters as political heirs

Kakinada: Keeping in view the forthcoming assembly and parliament elections in Andhra Pradesh, some senior leaders of both ruling YSRC and opposition Telugu Desam are promoting their sons and daughters as their political heirs in their
areas of influence.

For example, Telugu Desam senior leader and former finance minister Yanamala
Ramakrishnudu has decided to field his daughter Divya from Tuni Assembly
constituency. Divya has already started campaigning in the constituency and
is wooing voters to elect her.

TD leaders are anticipating a generational shift in their party after Telugu
Desam chief N. Chandrababu had been remanded in the Central Jail at
Rajamahendravaram. Leaders realised that TD national general secretary N.
Lokesh had taken responsibility for everything. Some of the senior leaders
feel it is an opportune time to pass on their political baton to their
children.

Peddapuram MLA Nimmakayala China Rajappa’s son Ranga Nag is touring various villages in the constituency. He has been running Telugu Desam’s “Future is guaranteed with Chandrababu” campaign on behalf of his father. China Rajappa told Deccan Chronicle that while he is busy with his party activities, his
son Ranga Nag has been contacting people and explaining TD’s programmes to
them.

Another senior Telugu Desam leader and former MLC Adireddy Appa Rao is
confident of getting the party ticket for his son Vasu, who supervised
arrangements for family members of Chandrababu Naidu when the latter had
been jailed in Rajamahendravaram jail for 53 days.
In YSRC, transport minister Pinepe Viswaroop’s son Srikanth is visiting
villages in Amalapuram constituency during the Gadapa Gadapaku programme.
Viswaroop had to undergo surgery for his illness three months ago, and his
son is taking care of ruling party’s activities in the constituency.

All issues relating to Ramachandrapuram constituency are said to be
supervised by Ch. Naren, son of BC welfare minister Ch. Srinivasa Venu
Gopalakrishna. YSRC cadres in the constituency say if they want any work
done, they have to contact Naren.

P. Surya Prakash, son of former minister and Rajya Sabha member Pilli
Subhashchandra Bose is looking to bag the YSRC ticket, as is Prudhwi, son of
MLC Thota Trimurthulu.

Former minister Thota Venkata Narasimham is promoting his son Ramji in
Jaggampeta constituency.
