State BJP hails Gujarat verdict; Cong blames AAP, MIM

Hyderabad: Political parties stuck to their traditional lines over the outcome of Assembly elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, with each congratulating the performance of their own parties, and taking the opportunity to take jibes at their rivals, while AIMIM renewed its pledge to keep fighting hard.

The BJP, which had much at stake in the two states, said it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision that brought a historic win in Gujarat. Party general secretary and TS affairs in-charge Tarun Chugh said, “the result in Gujarat is the harbinger of what Telangana will see when elections are held. The same wind that blew in Gujarat now blows in Telangana where the mood is on similar lines.”

State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar thanked the voters in Gujarat for reposing their faith in the party yet again, and said that the people had demonstrated faith in ‘double-engine sarkar’ and the development this brings to a state.

State Congress president A. Revanth Reddy focused on Himachal Pradesh, calling the Congress’ performance ‘remarkable’ and said that the party will give the best governance.

On Gujarat, senior Congress leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka felt that Modi had stooped low, forgetting that he was the Prime Minister. He deployed official machinery at his disposal and misused it while indulging in false propaganda. “BJP’s win is not a moral win,” he said, adding that the blame for dividing the secular vote should be shared by AAP and AIMIM.

MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said he welcomed the ‘people's verdict’ in Gujarat. In a recorded video statement in Urdu, he said despite not getting a single seat, the party’s determination remains strong.

“For the first time we contested in 13 Assembly seats. Our determination remains strong despite not winning a single seat. We shall be reviewing the results. AIMIM will continue to strive and overcome all kinds of challenges,” Owaisi said.
