BJP Decries Akbaruddin Owaisi's Protem Speaker Appointment, Meets Governor
Hyderabad: Following AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi's took oath as the Protem Speaker of the Telangana Legislative Assembly at Raj Bhawan, BJP MLAs visited the Governor to express their disapproval of Owaisi's appointment. Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administered the oath, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in attendance during the ceremony.

The Governor designated Akbaruddin Owaisi as the Protem Speaker on Friday, just ahead of the commencement of the first session of the third Telangana State Legislative Assembly scheduled for Saturday. The Protem Speaker plays a temporary role, presiding over the Assembly session until newly-elected members are sworn in, and a Speaker is elected.
On December 7, twelve MLAs took oaths as ministers in a fresh cabinet in Telangana along with new Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad. Revanth Reddy became the first Congress Chief Minister of the youngest state in India.
Congress MLA Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu also took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state that was formed in the year 2014.
Congress won an absolute majority in Telangana for the first time, winning 64 of 119 seats.
