Congress cozying up to MIM, showing its true colours: Kishan Reddy
Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday said the Congress had started showing its “true colours” by cozying up to the AIMIM within two days of assuming power, and Union minister and party state president G. Kishan Reddy said that the BJP had predicted this during the election campaign.
Addressing a press conference, Kishan Reddy, who also formally announced that his party was boycotting Saturday’s Assembly session for the swearing-in of MLAs-elect, said, “All during the campaign, we said that the Congress, BRS and the MIM were together. By selecting AIMIM’s Akbaruddin Owaisi as the pro-tem Speaker, the Congress which has a secret deal with MIM started showing its true colours.”
The BJP MLAs-elect who started their day offering prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar later attended a meeting with Kishan Reddy. He said the BJP’s boycott was in protest against the Congress ignoring House rules. He said the BJP MLAs-elect will take oath after a full-time Speaker is elected.
Later, the BJP winners called on Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan and complained about how the Congress had ignored the rules in selecting a pro-tem Speaker of its own choice.
