Revanth in Delhi to Discuss Portfolios, MLC Nominations

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Friday evening to meet the party top brass to discuss allocation of portfolios to newly-inducted ministers into his Cabinet and MLC nominations. He will return by Saturday morning to attend the Legislative Assembly session at 11 am besides launching Maha Lakshmi free bus travel scheme for women.

On arrival in Delhi, Revanth Reddy met AICC general secretary (organisation) K.C. Venugopal. Sources said that he submitted proposals on the portfolios to be allocated to the ministers. He also discussed Cabinet expansion plans to fill the six vacancies. However, the Cabinet expansion is expected to take some time.

The upper limit of Telangana Cabinet is 18, including the Chief Minister. On Thursday, Revanth Reddy and 11 ministers took oath.

There are two MLC vacancies under the Governor's quota. Four incumbent BRS MLCs will tender resignations as they have been elected as MLAs — Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Kasireddy Narayan Reddy, Kadiam Srihari and Padi Kaushik Reddy.

Revanth Reddy is learnt to have discussed the six MLC vacancies with Venugopal and the possible Congress candidates for those seats. There is no minister from the minority category in the Cabinet and Revanth Reddy proposes to take a minority leader into his Cabinet by nominating him as MLC. The name of former minister Mohd Ali Shabbir is doing the rounds as he had left his Kamareddy seat to Revanth Reddy to take on BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
