Congress MP Karti Chidambaram lands in trouble
Chennai: Congress Lok Sabha member representing Sivaganga constituency, Karti Chidambaram, is in deep trouble as the disciplinary committee of the TNCC has recommended to the party high command that action be taken against him for shooting his mouth off at an interview to a Tamil television channel saying that Raul Gandhi was no match for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming elections.
The disciplinary committee chairman K R Ramasamay had sent a show cause notice to the MP on December 6 seeking his explanation on his objectionable remarks made at the television interview, giving him 10 days’ time to reply. The interview was telecast in December.
Even while waiting for the MPs’ response, the disciplinary committee met on Wednesday to discuss the issue and all the members unanimously wanted serious action to be taken against Karti Chidambaram, endorsing the steps taken by Ramasamy.
According to TNCC sources, the party high command was aware of the development in the State and will take appropriate action against the MP, who is also an AICC member.
The notice had also asked him to explain Karti Chidambaram’s support for the electronic voting machines that the Congress party leaders had been opposing and insisting on VVPAT systems to be installed in all the EVMs and not in random as it is now done.
