Will recall non-functioning MPs: Kamal Haasan
Salem: Virtually hurling a bombshell at the political establishment, actor-turned politician and Makkal Needhi Maiyam (MNM) leader Kamal Haasan said that he would recall his party's elected MPs if they failed to deliver within a time-frame.
Addressing a series of election meetings here in support of the MNM nominee for Salem Lok Sabha constituency, Prabhu Manikandan, on Tuesday, the actor said on his party candidate getting elected to Lok Sabha, "he will do all that the previous MP had not done in the last five years." "If he (Prabhu) fails to accomplish this task in two years of being an MP, we will ask him to resign," Kamal Haasan said.
Regretting that crime rate in Tamil Nadu was increasing, most parts of the State even without drinking water, Kamal Haasan said if the people allow the present government to continue, it will be of no use to the people. "Your vote for MNM in the coming election is the first step for bringing about a meaningful change in Tamil Nadu," he said, adding, MNM if voted to power will root out corruption and ensure safety for women among other things.
