Congress campaign in full form in Palair

Scores of leaders participate in campaign for bypoll.

Khammam: Ruling party’s aggressive campaign to get huge majority in Palair byelection forced the Congress leaders to maintain unity in the election.

From PCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy, PCC working president M. Bhatti Vikramarka and Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao, MLAs T. Jeevan Reddy to party activists in the villages are working hard in the election and campaigning in favour of Sucharita Ramreddy.

About a dozen former ministers and MLAs and another half-a-dozen senior leaders were involved in the campaign. Fitting answers are being given to the questions being raised by ministers such as K.T. Rama Rao, Jupally Krishna Rao and T. Padma Rao Goud apart from party candidate T. Nageswara Rao.

PCC president and working president went on aggressively in criticising Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his schemes. They alleged the corrupt money from the reengineering of irrigation projects, Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha were used it in the byelections.

Stand of Tummala on Telangana before bifurcation of the state is being raised in the public meetings. Congress media in-charge Mallu Ravi, former MP G. Vivek and Congress leader I. Venkat Reddy toured various villages in Khammam Rural mandal and campaigned in favour of Sucharita.

“We have never seen such unity among Congress leaders and they are working with commitment in Palair byelection,” P. Syam, a Congress worker in Ponnekal village under Khammam Rural mandal said.

The issue of fielding candidate in Palair instead of making the seat as unanimous to the wife of Ramreddy and K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s rejection in giving appointment to Sucharita are also being highlighted.

Rajya Sabha MP V. Hanumantha Rao said that the people of Palair are recalling the services of Ramreddy Venkat Reddy and they are committed to vote Sucharita in the election.

4 officials helping TRS, congress tells ECI
The TPCC has lodged a complaint against four officials working in Khammam and Palair Assembly constituency with the Election Commission of India, accusing them of resorting to unethical and unfair practices and working in favour of the TRS.

The officials are DSP P. Balakrishna, Kusum-anchi inspector Kiran Kumar, Khammam Rural inspector Anjaneyulu and Khammam Rural MPDO E. Srinivasa Rao. In a letter to ECI, TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that these officials were openly campaigning for the TRS and threatening and intimidating Congress workers.

TRS candidate of Palair is a minister in the state Cabinet and majority of ministers in the Cabinet camped in Khammam and campaigning for him. With this, the staff and officials of these ministers, who belonged to the departments of respective ministers, are also campaigning in the constituency.

‘KCR fails to implement promises’
Former minister Sabita Indra Reddy said that Palair byelection is being held between people’s awareness and egoistic Telangana Rastra Samiti.

“Deceiving the people is the character of K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Firstly, he came forward to merge TRS in the Congress. But, he failed to fulfil his promise. He (KCR) even had not given appointment to Sucharita, wife of R. Venkat Reddy,” she said, adding that the Chief Minister had no values and he is not the man of honouring traditions.

Before elections, K. Chandrasekhar Rao made promise of making Dalit a Chief Minister and failed to honour it. The promise of three acre to Dalits is not being implemented. Twelve per cent reservations to Muslims and 2- bedroom houses have been remained as promises only.

These officials are using four wheelers and two-wheelers and visiting the villages along with these ministers without any permissions. "A fight between people and ruling party is going in Palair byelection and people will give a fitting reply to the TRS", he said. Purchasing of MLAs and MPs by TRS is also being discussed among the public in Palair, he said.
