Vijayapura: Extern Yatnal for anti-Muslim rant'
Vijayapura: Taking strong objection to BJP MLA, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal’s call to isolate Muslims in Vijayapura, many senior Ahinda leaders here have appealed to the government to keep him out of the district until the end of Ramzan.
A hardcore Hindu leader, Mr Yatnal was recently caught on a video asking BJP corporators of Vijayapura not to do any work for Muslims in their respective wards. Responding to him, Ahinda leaders, S M Patil Ganihar, Tapal Engineer, M C Mulla, Srinath Pujari and Nagaraj Lambu Yatnal, told a press conference here that his statements against the Muslims were unconstitutional.
“In view of the imminent danger from Yatnal to society, the government should keep him out of the district until the end of Ramzan,” they added, arguing that he could otherwise disrupt the peace inVijaypura.
The Ahinda group of leaders has also decided to submit a memorandum to the Speaker demanding the immediate suspension of Mr Yatnal from the Assembly. Said Mr Ganihar, “ Yatnal should be treated in a mental hospital as he appears to have been bitten by a mad animal”.
Recalling the BJP leader’s election campaign along with Muslims when he was part of the JD(S), the Ahinda leaders challenged him to swear in a temple that he had not taken the community’s support in the past. “Yatnal does not know the meaning of the Hindu religion. He is a fake,” they charged.
