Complete all outstanding highway projects: Jogi Ramesh
VIJAYAWADA: Minister for housing Jogi Ramesh has directed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to swiftly complete the pending works on the highway as early as possible and to take measures to prevent road accidents on the national highways.
Minister Ramesh convened a review meeting along with Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry, former minister and MLA Perni Venkatramaiah alias Nani, MLAs K.P. Saradhi, Kaile Anil Kumar, and Simhadri Ramesh, and the Krishna district collector P. Ranjit Basha, at the collectorate in Machilipatnam on Friday. He discussed the various NHAI projects and their progress reports in the Krishna district.
The minister instructed NHAI authorities that they should complete the Ongole-Kathipudi section of NH 216 as early as possible. He expressed displeasure over the negligence of Pedana, Bantumilli, and the other old roads and instructed them to initiate measures for the repair of those roads. He said that a Detail Project Report (DPR) was being prepared for the extension of the Pedana - Nuzvid four-lane road. He directed the NHAI officials to conduct proper patrolling on the national highways.
MP Balashowry said that they needed to arrange a central lighting system on the national highways and suggested setting up barricades to prevent road accidents at the dividers in various villages. He said that the central government had given its nod to construct a flyover at Gudivada and had ensured to clear the land acquisition problems for flyover construction.
MLA Nani sought the extension of the Nuzvid-Pedana highway up to Machilipatnam city.
