TS BJP flooded with applications for party tickets, 1,603 apply on Saturday

HYDERABAD: The BJP received 1,603 applications for Assembly election tickets on Saturday, the penultimate day for submitting the forms. This was nearly equal to the 1,620 applications the party received in the past five days.

“We gave out some 3,000 forms today,” said G. Subhash Chander, former deputy mayor of Hyderabad and senior BJP leader, manning one of the three counters set up for accepting applications.

With the heavy rush on Saturday, the party added two more counters. For a while, it had to stop collecting the forms.

"We expect an even larger rush on Sunday, the last day for submitting the forms. By the time we end this, we could have anywhere from 5,000 to 6,000 applicants," he added.
