Deadlock over ticket for Jangaon broken
Hyderabad: The way has been paved for Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, BRS MLC, who was seeking the party ticket to contest the Assembly election from Jangaon,
On Tuesday, BRS working president and minister K.T. Rama Rao met with Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy, BRS Jangaon MLA, and his supporters, and Rajeshwar Reddy, where they discussed the need to set aside differences and work for the success of the party.
At a meeting held in the Ministers’ Quarters in the city, Yadagiri Reddy agreed that the party took precedence and promised that he would work for Rajeshwar Reddy’s victory in the elections.
Rajeshwar Reddy had been fighting for the party ticket from Jangaon, and this was one of the four constituencies where BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao did not announce a candidate when he released a list of 115 candidates on August 21.
The contest between Yadagiri Reddy and Rajeshwar Reddy has at times turned ugly. Yadagiri Reddy has since been appointed the chairman of TSRTC, a position which he has since taken charge of. However, even after taking charge of his new post, Yadagiri Reddy said he was in the race for the Jangaon ticket which had triggered a fresh bout of speculation. Rama Rao talked to the contrary on Tuesday when he brokered peace between the two leaders.
The BRS is yet to announce its candidates officially for Jangaon, Nampally, Goshamahal and Narsapur, but with the way cleared for Rajeshwar Reddy, the party is to decide on the three other constituencies. It is also taking stock of its options in Malkajgiri constituency where its candidate and MLA Mynampally Hanumanth Rao quit the BRS and joined the Congress recently.
The meeting was also attended by panchayat raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Dr T Rajaiah who is among the few BRS MLAs to have been denied a ticket. The party pacified him by appointing him Rythu Bandhu Samiti chairman.
