Revanth Warns Officials as \'BRS Puppets,\' Vows to Lodge Complaints with EC

HYDERABAD: TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy on Tuesday alleged that a few state government officials were working for the BRS by releasing constituency funds to its MLAs in violation of election code, and warned of action against them when the Congress comes to power.

Addressing a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan, Revanth Reddy said the Congress would lodge complaints against such officials with the Election Commission who are resorting to blatant violation of election norms. He said the Congress government will review all decisions taken and tenders finalised by the BRS government six months prior to the poll notification.

“The state government has deployed several retired officers who are working for the BRS in many positions. The role of officials is very important in elections. In the last few years, some IAS and IPS officers are working for the BRS more than the party leaders. From IAS-level to MRO-level, some officials are misusing their power," the TPCC chief alleged.

“Any kind of funds should not be released except for pensions till elections. On the contrary, some officials are violating the rules and releasing funds,” he alleged. The BRS was trying to use the loopholes in the law to gain advantage in the elections.

He said that the Congress was collecting the details of such officials which will be sent to the ECI in the form of a complaint about abuse of power.

Referring to minister K.T. Rama Rao's statement describing his father and Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao, as 'tiger', Revanth Reddy said, "The family of cannibals is synonymising themselves with tigers. KTR correctly compared his father to an animal."

The TPCC chief said that the selection process of Congress candidates for Assembly polls was still going on and the candidature will be finalised only after weighing all the factors.

He said that apart from election nominees, the Congress had several vacancies for MP and MLC seats and other posts. He said the alliances with Left parties and others was still being worked out adding that those who have worked for the party will be recognized.

He asked the media to maintain restraint on candidates list. He alleged that a few media organisations owned by political parties were creating misconceptions about the Congress candidates list.

Revanth Reddy said he would file a complaint with the EC against media organisations who spread false news and file cases against them.
