Naxalism to End in Chhattisgarh in 5 years, If BJP Comes to Power: Shah

RAIPUR: Union home minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that Naxalism will be eliminated in Chhattisgarh in the next five years, if BJP is voted to power in the state in the ensuing assembly elections.

Addressing an election rally in Bagicha under Jashpur district, Mr Shah said that some tribal districts in Chhattisgarh are still being affected by the Maoist menace.

“Naxalism will be eliminated in Chhattisgarh in the next five years, if BJP comes to power in the state”, he pledged.

Mr Shah attacked the Bhupesh Baghel government saying that it has done nothing except scandals and scams and announced that BJP, if returned to power in the state, will constitute a commission of inquiry to probe the corruption in the government.

Referring to the alleged online betting Mahadev App scam, he lamented that the state Congress government has not even spared the name of ‘Mahadev’ by indulging in the scandal.

Under the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Chandrayaan-three was sent to the moon and Prime Minister Mr Modi named the point of landing as ‘Shivshakti’, expressing his reverence to Lord Shiva.

But, the Congress government in Chhattisgarh opened a betting App named “Mahadev”, he said.

“They should be ashamed that they should have at least spared the name of Mahadev”, he added.

He expressed serious concern over the reported religious conversion of tribals taking place in Chhattisgarh and said that BJP will not allow it without their permission and will protect them.

Mr Shah claimed that the Congress faced a debacle in the first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh in which 20 seats went to polls on November seven, and said that it indicates BJP’s return to power in the state in the polls.

The remaining 70 assembly constituencies in Chhattisgarh are going to the polls on November 17.
