Samajika Sadhikara Yatra, a victory for marginalised' communities
Tirupati: Minister for social welfare Merugu Nagarjuna has claimed that the YSRC’s ongoing Samajika Sadhikara Bus Yatra signalled a "victory" for marginalised communities.
“Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is spearheading a social revolution in Andhra Pradesh,” he stated at a public meeting in Thamballapalle constituency on Friday.
Nagarjuna emphasised the significance of the Yatra and said that despite the absence of the chief minister, his soldiers were “carrying forward his mission with full glory.”
Minister Nagarjuna said the Chief Minister was translating the dreams of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and Jyoti Rao Phule into reality. “Under Jagan's leadership, the state is progressing and empowering the backward classes (BC), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and minorities.”
In a scathing attack on the Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Nagarjuna accused him of betraying the BCs by writing letters to the central government questioning their suitability as judges.
Nagarjuna criticised Naidu for his “failure to fulfill the promises he made in the 2014 TD manifesto, and cautioned the public to be wary of the TD chief’s “deceptive styles.” He added, "If we want to progress, we should make Jagan the chief minister again."
Minister Ushasri Charan said Jagan Mohan Reddy has transformed the lives of SCs, STs, BCs and minorities. She praised the CM for appointing women as chairpersons of corporations.
Former minister Anil Kumar said BCs and SCs have secured key positions in Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government, unlike during the TD term, when “Naidu used them merely as TD’s vote bank.”
MLC Kumbha Ravibabu asserted that Jagan Mohan Reddy provided economic, social and political empowerment to the backward classes. He contrasted Jagan Reddy’s “inclusive approach” with Naidu's “neglect of the tribals” when he ran government. Minister G Jayaram, MLAs Dwarakanath Reddy, Hafiz Khan and others were present.
