Differences within BC leaders of YSRC in Konaseema

Kakinada: Though ruling YSRC is trying to woo backward classes in the state ahead of fast-approaching assembly elections, there are differences within leaders of Settibalija community, which is prominent among BCs in Godavari districts.

In this connection, community leaders of YSRC organised a Karthika Vana Samaradhana programme at Amalapuram on Sunday.

Coincidentally, Draksharama police arrived at the house of a second-rung YSRC leader Rongala Sridhar in Draksharama of Ramachandrapuram mandal for taking him into custody.

Sridhar immediately shot off information on social media that police have arrived to take him into custody at the behest of local minister Ch. Srinivasa Venu Gopalakrishna just as he had been getting ready for going to Vana Samaradhana programme.

Sridhar went on to call Rajya Sabha member Pilli Subhashchandra Bose. The MP, in turn, called the police to let the YSRC leader attend the programme. Following the intervention of Subhashchandra Bose, police took Sridhar to the police station and released him after taking a signature from him.

This has exposed the differences with the leaders of YSRC in the district.

Ramachandrapuram DSP T.S.R.K. Prasad, however, clarified that there is a rowdy-sheet in the name of Sridhar. Because of this, Sridhar has to report to the police station for counselling every Sunday. But the YSRC leader failed to do so.

When police got information that Sridhar is in his house, police went there for ensuring that he attends the counselling session. The DSP clarified that they have no intention of arresting Sridhar.

However, sources said Sridhar had been suspiciously moving around the house of minister Venu Gopalakrishna twice on Saturday. Owing to this, Draksharama police wanted to know why he is making the rounds of the minister’s house.
