Mahasabha's Mysuru chief pays for support to Siddaramaiah

Opposing the move of Mr Basavaraj, community leaders held an emergency meeting on Tuesday.

Mysuru: Four days after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met Veerashaiva community members in Mysuru on Friday, a video showing Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha Mysuru district President Hinkal Basavaraj promising the support of the entire community to the Chief Minister and the Congress party in the district, has gone viral.

Opposing the move of Mr Basavaraj, community leaders held an emergency meeting on Tuesday and are said to have dismissed Basavaraj and three other office bearers of the Sabha who accompanied him to the meeting.

On April 6, Mr Siddaramaiah participated in the meeting with the Veerashaiva community members, where Mr Basavaraj reportedly expressed the support of the Sabha for him. Opposing this move, Mr Puttabudhdhi, member of the state-level committee of the Sabha said Mr Basavaraj and three office bearers of the Sabha, T.S. Lokesh, Chandrashekar and Guruswamy, have been dismissed.

He told mediapersons, “People of the community are united in the old Mysuru region. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah who is trying to divide the community will be taught a lesson. Members of the community can identify themselves with any party or leader but they cannot extend their support to a party on behalf of the entire community,” Mr Puttabudhdhi said.
