Karnataka elections: JD(S) faces heat for proximity to BJP
Hyderabad: With the anti-BJP campaign gathering steam in the last minute campaign, JD(S) candidates are also facing the heat. The Telugus are against the JD(S) owing to its anticipated tie-up with the BJP. The Congress candidates appear to benefit from the anti-BJP stand of Telugus from Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the newspaper, Ms Shalini Kumar, a settler from AP and a voter from Whitefield, said, “By voting for JD(S) candidates, we would be helping the BJP, as there are sufficient indications of their tie-up. A vote for the JD(S) means a vote for the BJP. Telugus don’t want to help AP’s destructors to come power in Karnataka. The BJP should be taught a lesson. The Karnataka elections will decide the fate of the BJP in the south.”
Asked their anti-BJP stance would benefit the Congress, Mr Anand Gajula from Mahadevapura, one of the rich constituency, said, “It depends on the candidates, If not the Congr-ess, then NOTA. but no to the BJP or the JD(S).”
The Telugus are considered as a deciding factor in at least 25-30 Assembly constituencies in Karnataka, which votes on May 12.
