VIJAYAWADA: In a shocker for Jana Sena led by Pawan Kalyan, BJP national president J.P. Nadda has chosen to remain silent about his party’s alliance with JS in the 2024 Assembly general elections.
He has though been categorical that the lotus must bloom in AP during the next Assembly polls.
BJP leaders have been quick to justify their party chief for making no mention of their party’s alliance with Jana Sena. They claim their party leadership is focussing more on how to reach out to people and inform them about the developmental works and welfare schemes implemented by the Narendra Modi government.
Yet, issues between BJP and Jana Sena are refusing to die down, especially in the context of Pawan Kalyan showing more interest in forging an alliance with Telugu Desam. The JS chief has openly announced that in order to defeat the common enemy of YSR Congress, they – Jana Sena, BJP and TD – should join together and avoid a split of anti-incumbency votes.
Nadda’s silence is intriguing as TD chief Naidu had not only met the BJP’s national president recently in New Delhi, but also union home minister Amit Shah.
Analysts say BJP leadership might be trying to test Jana Sena’s commitment. Whether it intends to continue its alliance with BJP or prefers to forge an alliance with TD, given the fact that Naidu has already announced a series of sops at the party Mahanadu conclave to successfully woo voters.
Jana Sena is going by the poll percentages polled by the TD when compared to BJP. JS clearly wants to win some seats.
Given the background, Pawan Kalyan is getting ready to begin his tour of the state from June 14 onwards by offering prayers to Lord Satyanarayana at Annavaram, followed by a public meeting at Kathipudi Junction the same evening. He will visit Pitapuram on June 15 and address a meeting on June 16.
From June 17 to June 19, he will visit Kakinada Rural and Kakinada Urban segments. He will hold a series of meetings and address a public meeting on June 18.
