Puducherry: Ms Kiran Bedi said that she sees a confluence of intent in her job as Lt Governor of Puducherry. In an interview to Deccan Chronicle in the Union Territory, she said, “For me, it is not a question of politics or a political party. It is the delivery to the citizens of their essential and progressive needs. The CM, his team and I have common goals. The Lt Governor’s position is constitutional. I am here to serve as per the Indian Constitution.”
The first task ahead of the Puducherry government is to desilt the canals and drains before the monsoons in order to prevent flooding. “We are trying to identify the right sanitation machinery to avoid inhuman contact with excreta. We are also finding the funds to get machines from Swachch Bharat Abhiyan,” she said.
