HD Deve Gowda tour, mega rally to bolster JD(S) image in North Karnataka

Belagavi: In an attempt to bolster its presence in North Karnataka, the JD(S) top leadership led by former PM and party national president H.D. Deve Gowda will tour rural segments in north Karnataka, mainly Chikkodi, Ramdurg and Bagalkot districts on July 13 and 14.

Mr Gowda is expected to give a boost to the ongoing JD(S) campaign in the region with the slogan “Karnatakakke e baari namma Kumaranna,” in an impassionate appeal to make Mr Kumaraswamy CM. A mega JD(S) convention will be held at a place between Hubballi and Dharwad in which more than 5 lakh people will take part, said party state spokesman and MLC T.A. Sharavan. Another massive rally for women will be held by JD(S) in Bengaluru on July 20 to protest against the failure of both the state and the Centre to initiate measures for welfare of women, he said adding that a resolution would be passed at the women's convention and sent to PM Narendra Modi.

The JD(S) will field strong candidates in several constituencies in north-Karnataka to achieve its target of making a difference in the region. A list of probables is being drawn up which will be announced shortly.

To promote women leaders, JD(S) will soon start women's wings across the state and appoint district unit presidents, said Mr Sharavan assuring that a farmers’ rally would soon be held in the state.
