IT sector in state on firm footing: Nara Lokesh
Vijayawada: There is a boom in Information and Technology (IT) sector in the state with more than 30 companies having set their foot over the past 90 days, Minister for IT Nara Lokesh said. He inaugurated the office spaces of seven IT companies dealing with consultancy, e-learning and IT/ITES services set up by AP non-resident Telugus (APNRT) in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Electronics & IT Agencies (APEITA) at K Business Space at Autonagar in the city on Monday.
The the department will soon launch a website to display details of employment generated in IT sector, he added.
Two new initiatives, Global Innovation Centre (GIC) and Designated Technology Park (DTP), were under consideration with IT department through which around 60 per cent subsidy would be offered to IT companies which failed to get 70 per cent occupancy, said Lokesh.
The IT department is focusing on developing Cloud Computing Policy to promote Visakhapat-nam as the IT hub across South Asia, he said.
HCL Technologies was gearing up to provide 7,000 jobs in IT sector across the state. The state government had provided 15 acres land to it at Gannavaram.
“Electronic waste has become a big problem for the state and we are trying to find a solution with assistance from Singapore. First Pi data centre will be launched at Mangalagiri on July 28 and seven SME companies will be launched at Visakhapatnam soon,” says Mr Lokesh.
