Women Commission Serves Notice to Pawan Kalyan for Saying Many Women Missing in AP
Vijayawada: AP Women’s Commission rose on Monday to serve a notice on Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan, urging him to explain in detail his allegation that a lot of women in AP were “missing”.
Submit proof within 10 days, the commission demanded of the Jana Sena chief.
A day ago, the Jana Sena chief told a public meeting at Eluru that he got an 'intelligence report' from the Centre stating that nearly 30,000 women and girls were missing in AP since 2019, and of them, only 14,000 were traced or returned.
Pawan Kalyan said at the meeting that he was worried about the fate of the remaining women and girls. He alleged that the volunteers were misusing the information being collected from the families about the girls and women; and that such information was reaching the hands of anti-social elements who, in turn, were resorting to human-trafficking.
State women commission chairperson Vasireddy Padma expressed concern over such “remarks” – and curiously, not about the safety of the women and girls in the state -- and opined that such remarks were demeaning to the honour of the state’s women and girls.
She asked as to how many women living alone were handed over to the anti-social elements and whether such reports could be substantiated with proof.
