YSRC govt not involved in Naidu's arrest, says Kakani
Tirupati: Agriculture minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy on Sunday underlined that YSRC government has no direct involvement in investigations related to misappropriation of funds linked to the skill development scam case.
He maintained that Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu arrest in the case is a result of thorough, independent investigations by various state and central government agencies, which confirmed Naidu's alleged role in the scandal.
Addressing a press conference in Nellore, Govardhan Reddy observed that Naidu had abused power during his tenure as chief minister to obstruct investigations into various scandals for years. "Naidu thus escaped from many cases. But in this case, the whole society understands that the former CM is guilty."
He emphasised that TD chief is not exempt from law and constitutional provisions. There can be no special treatment for him. "There is one law for all people in the state. There is no special law for Naidu," he affirmed.
The minister hinted that Naidu's son, Nara Lokesh, might also face investigation in the scandal, as all guilty parties are accountable for their deeds.
He maintained that Naidu's arrest had not evoked sympathy from public, indicating a waning support for the former CM. In contrast, he said, when Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the current Chief Minister, had been illegally arrested in the past, there had been a public uproar and sympathy.
Govardhan Reddy felt Pawan Kalyan has nothing to do with Naidu’s arrest. Yet, he took the avatar of an adopted son and slept on the road. Other than acting, Pawan Kalyan has no knowledge of politics, he stated.
