Elect Double Engine Govt, KCR Working to Make His Son CM: Amit Shah

HYDERABAD: Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday appealed to the people of Telangana to opt for the ‘double engine’ government to benefit the poor, Adivasis, farmers, Dalits, women, unemployed youth and other marginalised groups.

Attacking Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he said the BRS, unlike Prime Minister Narendra Modi, works only to uplift Rao’s family and currently, to make K.T. Rama Rao Chief Minister.

Shah was addressing a meeting, ‘Jana Garjana Sabha’ at the DIET Ground here, the first since the Election Commission of India notified the Assembly elections.

He started off by paying tribute to Adivasi leader Komaram Bheem and recollecting his fight against the Nizam. He called on the public to similarly unseat the BRS government and bring the BJP to power. His speech was mainly centred around Adivasis and schemes implemented for them by BJP-led government at the Centre.

Ridiculing Chandrashekar Rao’s statement that Telangana topped the country in multiple fields, Shah cited crimes against women, farmer suicides, failure to provide safe drinking water, selective Dalit Bandhu aid and failure to provide houses as evidence of Rao’s “false claims”.

Attacking the BRS for celebrating September 17 as Integration Day, Shah said: “BJP government will celebrate September 17 as Hyderabad Liberation Day officially in all the districts. People of Telangana fought against the British and also Nizams during the struggle for Indian Independence.”

Continuing his attack on the BRS, he said: “The KCR government’s steering was in MIM's hands. The Congress, BRS and MIM will share the power in the state. KCR is working with the sole aim of making his son KTR the CM.”

The BJP leader highlighted recent announcements by the Prime Minister to set up a turmeric board and Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, besides approving terms to resolve the Krishna water dispute as the party’s efforts for the welfare of the state.

He sought to highlight that it was Narendra Modi who provided free vaccines to the people to protect them from Covid-19 and praised Modi’s leadership.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy, MP Bandi Sanjay, party incharge Tarun Chugh, Adilabad MP Soyam Bapu Rao, senior leaders Vivek Venkata Swamy, Ramesh Rathod, Maheshwar Reddy and party district presidents Payal Shankar, Srinivas, Suhasini Reddy, Rama Rao Patel, Mohan Rao Patel, Palvai Harish Rao, Janaki Bai, Amar Singh Tilawat, Rama Devi and Gujjuala Premender Reddy, and MLA Pradeep Dhurve of Maharashtra were among those present.
