Inform Revanth of Cases Booked Against Him: Telangana HC

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Tuesday directed the principal secretary (home) and the Director General of Police (DGP) to furnish information to TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy the number of criminal cases registered against him by Monday.

Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy has issued this order while dealing with a petition filed by Revanth Reddy, complaining that the police officials were not informing him of the cases registered against him.

Revanth Reddy, who would be contesting the Assembly elections, needs to file an affidavit where he needs to reveal the cases pending against him. If the information sought by him was not furnished to him, he cannot file his nomination for the election.

Though he made a representation on October 3 to the DGP, seeking information regarding the cases against him, there was no response from the police, Revanth said in the petition.

He mentioned that as TPCC president, he raised voice against the ruling party for its anti-people for which the ruling party had foisted several false cases against him.

The court asked government counsel how Revanth Reddy would be able to file his nomination papers if he was provided information about the cases. The court observed that the police cannot refuse to give information to a representation made by the public representative.

Mujeeb Kumar Sadhashivuni, appearing for the state, informed the judge that the process of furnishing information had commenced.
