Congress Win in Telangana is Sure, Says Shivakumar
Vijayawada: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, on a visit to the state party headquarters of Andhra Ratna Bhavan in Vijayawada on Saturday, expressed confidence in the party forming the next government in Telangana by winning the polls with a clear majority.
Shivakumar, on arrival after election campaigning in Telangana, was greeted by APCC chief Gidugu Rudra Raju, senior leaders N. Raghuveera Reddy and Sunkara Padmasri.
Addressing party leaders, he said: “A Congress wave is running in Telangana and the people of Telangana have faith in Sonia Gandhi and the victory of the Congress is certain.”
He predicted that the Congress would definitely come to power in AP too in the near future, saying the “Congress cadres of today are the leaders and ministers of tomorrow. In the history of Congress, anyone who wanted a chair (CM/PM), had to fight for it.”
He said that the history of Congress is the history of the country.
Shiva Kumar said that the development of Andhra Pradesh would be possible only with the victory of Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, dubbing the two state parties of YSRC and Telugu Desam unfit for the purpose.
He said: “The people of Andhra Pradesh should understand that their development depends on the Central government. There is a historical need for Congress to get back to power in the Centre and AP.”
Later in the day, Shivakumar, accompanied by AP leaders, visited the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple on Indrakeeladri and offered prayers.
