Hyderabad: Emotional Moment as PM Modi Comforts MRPS Leader Manda Krishna

PM Modi has had close interactions with Manda Krishna Madiga since 2013

Hyderabad: Manda Krishna Madiga, leader of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), became emotional on stage in Hyderabad as Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived to address a public rally.

Sharing the stage with PM Modi in Hyderabad's Secunderabad, Madiga was visibly moved, leading to a moment where the PM was seen consoling him, holding his hands.

PM Modi's presence at the rally organized by the MRPS, a community organization representing the Madigas, one of the significant constituents of scheduled castes in the Telugu states, adds political weight to the event.

The rally holds particular significance as the MRPS holds influence over the Madigas, a Dalit community historically associated with leatherwork and manual scavenging.

PM Modi has had close interactions with Manda Krishna Madiga since 2013. The MRPS, led by Madiga, has persistently advocated for internal reservations within the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

Following discussions with Manda Krishna, the BJP, in its 2014 manifesto, pledged support for internal reservations.

Established in July 1994 in Edumudi village, Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh, the MRPS, under the leadership of Manda Krishna Madiga and others, was formed with the primary goal of implementing internal reservations within the SC category.
