Kiran Bedi directs officials to prepare weekly work report
Puducherry: Virtually setting the stage for another fight with the elected government, Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi directed the secretaries of each departments and the DGP to prepare weekly work report of the departments and submit it to the Lt Governor every Monday.
A format in which the reports should be prepared was sent to the officials of each department. As per the form, officials were asked to fill details of field visits undertaken with highlights of the visits, details of the review meetings held, training program arrangements, service matters attended and new initiatives undertaken by the department. The Lt Governor would review the reports and send it back to the officers with her suggestions.
"Officers shall receive it back with my observations including appreciation or otherwise as per the work of the week. Please respond to my observations in the continuing reports if any", she said in her Whatsapp message. Ms Bedi said the matter has been discussed with the Chief Secretary, who too will also be sending his report as per this format.
“We are all here to transform Puducherry to be the best Union Territory in the country by serving the best way", she said. Ms Bedi had already said that Raj Nivas would prepare a personalised data of officials including their service records to make the best use of human resource available.
The elected government including Chief Minister V Narayanasamy had objected to the Lt Governor interfering in day to day affairs of governance and giving directions to the officials several times.
Earlier in the day, as part of her weekend visit, Ms Bedi came to the MS Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) at Pillayarkuppam and also the Thondaman Natham government higher secondary school building, which collapsed while being demolished.
