CPI to Organise Protests at Collectorates on December 14
Anantapur: Communist Party of India will organise protests at all district collectorates in Andhra Pradesh on December 14 demanding that the state government declare 460 mandals in Andhra Pradesh as drought affected.
Announcing this on Sunday, CPI state secretary K. Ramakrishna accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of acting against the interests of farmers instead of uplifting them following the present severe cyclone and earlier drought in the state.
He pointed out that 460 mandals of Andhra Pradesh are facing severe drought conditions. But the state government has declared only 103 mandals as hit by drought following the recent cyclone.
Instead, the CPI state secretary demanded that all the 460 mandals be declared as drought-affected and help extended to farmers of these mandals on a war-footing.
To mount pressure on the government in this regard, the CPI will be organising protests at all the district collectorates on December 14.
