MLA's son Devan Reddy quits YSRC
Visakhapatnam: Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy’s son Devan Reddy announced his resignation from the YSRC on Monday. Devan Reddy is temporarily in charge of the party for the Gajuwaka assembly constituency and is a strong contender for the coordinator post.
Devan Reddy told reporters that he got enough hints that he would not be getting the coordinator post and the post was being given to a leader from the Yadava community, which is predominant in the constituency
Gajuwaka became a key constituency in 2019 elections after Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan contested and lost to Nagi Reddy by around 16,000 votes. However, the party high command hinted at replacing Nagi Reddy and this was later conveyed to him by regional coordinator Y.V. Subba Reddy.
Nagi Reddy, who was then called a giant killer, appealed to the chief minister to make his son Devan Reddy the party coordinator but he did not get any positive response. Subba Reddy later made Devan Reddy temporarily in charge of the party.
Sources said the chief minister told Nagi Redy that if he worked in the next elections one of his sons would be given an MLC post. Nagi Reddy’s second son Vamsi Reddy is a corporator with GVMC.
Meanwhile, the high command has appointed Urukuti Ramachandra Rao as the incharge of the constituency. Devan Reddy and his father Nagi Reddy were not available for comment.
