Bhongir MP calls on new AICC incharge

HYDERABAD: Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who was issued a showcause notice in October last by the All India Congress committee (AICC) for breach of discipline, on Thursday asserted that he would continue in the party while focusing on his constituency’s development, after meeting newly appointed AICC Telangana state incharge Manikrao Thakre.

Thakre arrived in the city on Wednesday, his first visit to Telangana, and his meetings with leaders of the Congress concluded on Thursday. Venkat Reddy told the reporters after meeting Thakre that the showcause notice was no longer an issue. The AICC had issued a notice to the Bhongir MP for an audio leak in which he allegedly asked local Congress leaders to vote for his brother, BJP candidate Rajagopal Reddy, in the Munugode byelection.

“Manikrao said the notice would not have any effect and asked me to focus on work. I have already dumped the notice in the dustbin,” he said. On the newly constituted committees, he said they were irrelevant. "I'm not going to sit with those leaders who have set a record for losing six to seven times when running for an MLA seat," he remarked.
