AICC panel chief gets PCC show cause' notice amid rumours of BJP switchover

Hyderabad: With rumours doing the rounds that AICC program implementation committee chairman and former legislator from Nirmal, A. Maheshwar Reddy will be joining the BJP, the PCC’s disciplinary action committee (DAC) served him a show cause notice on Wednesday.

Citing ‘anti-party’ activities, the committee alleged that he was moving closely with BJP leaders.

“The DAC of TPCC has received numerous complaints from Congress party functionaries with regard to your anti-party activities. They have also complained that you are moving closer to BJP and passing scathing remarks against the leadership of the State Congress Committee,” the notice signed by DAC chairman, G. Chinna Reddy, reads

Interestingly, it directed him to submit an explanation within an hour.

“You are directed to submit your explanation within an hour from the date of this show cause notice failing which it will be construed that you have no explanation to offer and stern action will be initiated against you as per the norms and guidelines of Congress party organisation, regarding your anti-party activities,” it adds

Rubbishing the allegations, the former MLA, while speaking to the media, described the news as mere social media speculation. He explained that the meeting under question was about his planned 40-day padayatra from Nirmal starting on April 15.

“The allegations made against me are not new. Since it was AICC, which has appointed me, it should be serving me the notice. I shall be meeting AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and explain about the conspiracy against me. The PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy should explain why the notice was served to me in the first place. Will those who have lost credibility after shifting parties be serving me a notice?” he asked.
