AP finance department rejected irrigation file

Irrigation wing's request to clear works worth Rs 80 crore rejected.

Hyderabad: It's Yanamala versus Devineni in the AP government. The Finance department has rejected a file sent by irrigation department to award works of Krishna Pushkaralu, worth Rs 80 crore, on nomination basis. The finance department maintained that works worth more than Rs 5 crore should be awarded only through tenders.

The finance department said that according to rules, if the cost of the works exceeds Rs 5 crore, they should be given only through tenders. The state government awarded Rs 80 crore worth Krishna Pushkarams works to a company and it has completed work to the tune of about Rs 30 crore only.

When the Irrigation department sent the bills to the finance department for clearance, they were rejected, since without administrative sanction it is not possible to release funds. Further, the finance department asked how the works were executed without its approval.

After this, the irrigation department sent a file to the finance department taking quotations worth Rs 80 crore allotted to a company and works worth about Rs 30 crore were completed.

The irrigation department requested the finance department to accept these works and release the funds. The finance department rejected the request, saying that approval should be sought from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
