Winning Lok Sabha poll next big task: Dinesh Gundurao

Lobbying won't work, only those who have toiled for party will get berths and board posts: New KPCC chief.

Bengaluru: Newly appointed KPCC president, Dinesh Gundurao minced no words while warning congmen that the party will not come to the rescue of those who indulge in anti-party activities in the state.

Addressing an impressive gathering after taking charge from outgoing party president, Dr G. Parameshwar here, Mr Rao said, "I know that there is large scale lobbying going on to secure the remaining berths in the cabinet or posts in the state run boards and corporations. I can vouch for the fact that, only those who have worked for the party will make it to these posts and not those who indulged in anti-party activities."

He insisted that the time has come for those who used to run behind leaders to secure these posts ignoring the party, to shed their habit. "I want everyone to work hard for the party to secure maximum seats in the Lok Sabha elections next year. Lobbying will not help anymore. We need to unite and fight against the BJP," he said.

He asserted that the party will have to follow the coalition dharma, as Congress leaders in New Delhi have purposefully formed this coalition and will not be kind to those who try to violate the coalition dharma.

Heaping praise on former CM, Siddarmaiah, Mr Rao said, "You may have lost the election but the people will not forget you. You have done no harm but it will take some time for people to realise that you were the flag bearer of pro-poor reforms in the state."

He added that Siddaramaiah was still a formidable leader who is loved by people of the state like none is loved. "We are with you," he said. Praising outgoing president, Dr Parameshwar, Mr Rao said that he felt proud to receive charge from a KPCC chief who had appointed him as Bengaluru district Congress president.
