Vijayawada: Alleging that the YSRC government was running a parallel system of government at village and ward levels by appointing volunteers to collect crucial information from the people, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan vowed to fight against this legally and in a democratic manner.
Addressing the party leaders and women activists from Unguturu Assembly segment in Eluru on Tuesday, he said that those who collect personal information from the people beyond requirement should be held responsible under the provisions of Data Protection Act, 2022. He asked as to why the people should share their personal information with the volunteers.
Pawan Kalyan said that when he raised the issue of missing women and girls, the people started discussing it. Referring to the claim of good recovery rate of such persons, he asked as to how they went missing and who were behind it and what kind of trouble they faced and under what condition they were returning. The government must explain all these, he said.
Maintaining that 50 families in the villages were under the control of each volunteer by following his/her diktats and that the details of banks accounts and PAN cards of the people were being kept in the mobile phones of volunteers, he asked what would happen in case their phones were either lost or hacked.
He said the volunteer system was becoming strong and cautioned that if it was not properly managed, it would lead to dangerous situations in the state.
He called upon the people to think again before giving personal information about their girls and women to the volunteers.
