Amit Shah to Launch BJP's Mass Outreach Campaign in Dantewada Today

Raipur: Union home minister Amit Shah is set to launch “Parivartan Yatra”, the mass outreach campaign by BJP, in tribal-dominated Dantewada under Bastar in Chhattisgarh ahead of the year-end assembly polls, on Tuesday.

Mr Shah is scheduled to pay obeisance to Maa Danteswari, the presiding deity of Bastar, in district headquarters of Dantewada before flagging off the yatra, state BJP president Arun Sao said here on Monday.

Mr Shah is scheduled to address a public rally on the occasion, Mr Sao said.

The yatra would cover 1728 km in 21 districts in the state over 16 days and reach Bilaspur on September 28.

As many as 45 public meetings, 32 roadside meetings and five road shows are scheduled to be organised by the party during the yatra, a party functionary said.

Heavy security arrangements have been made in Naxal-infested Dantewada on the occasion, officials said.

BJP has earlier approached director general of police of Chhattisgarh for adequate security arrangement during the yatra.

BJP is also set to roll the second ‘Parivartan Yatra’ from tribal-dominated Jashpur in north Chhattisgarh on September 15.

The Jashpur yatra is scheduled to be flagged off by BJP national president J P Nadda.

The second yatra is scheduled to take 12 days to reach its final destination, Bilaspur, on September 28.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address a meeting of party workers on the occasion, a BJP functionary said.

The two yatras are scheduled to cover all the 90 assembly constituencies in the state.

BJP national general secretary in-charge of elections in Chhattisgarh Om Mathur on Monday unveiled two chariots to be used in the two yatras.

“We have been preparing for the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh for the last one year”, he said.

According to Mr Sao, various omissions and commissions of the state Congress government would be exposed during the yatra. Besides, People would be made aware of various welfare schemes of the Centre during the period.
