Polls: AIFB, BSP ready to give a ride to BRS rebels in Karimnagar

KARIMNAGAR: The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) with its Lion symbol and the Bahujan Samaj Party with the Elephant symbol are ready to offer a ride to the rebel leaders of the ruling BRS as well as the BJP and the Congress in erstwhile Karimnagar district.

Some BRS leaders who were denied the party ticket and leaders of the BJP and Congress who are facing a tough competition from senior leaders for their party tickets, are looking at these two political parties as an alternative refuge for election tickets in the erstwhile Karimnagar district.

Even though the BJP and the Congress did not announce the list of candidates for the next assembly elections from the two parties, some key leaders are keeping in touch with the BSP and AIFB.

For the past several years, the two parties are striving hard to establish their identity in the united Karimnagar district. They are ready to induct senior leaders from other parties and provide them an alternative political platform.

The AIFB party grabbed public attention in AP after its nominee Korakanti Chander Patel won an assembly seat on Lion Symbol from Ramagundam constituency in the 2018 elections.

The AIFB became a best choice for the disgruntled leaders who failed to get party tickets from other parties.

Notably, as many as 24 leaders of other parties who did not get the party ticket contested on AIFB party ticket and won the last local body elections. At present, AIFB is in talks with rebel leaders of the BRS, Kandula Sandhya Rani from Ramagundam and Nalla Manohar Reddy from Peddapalli assembly segments, for possible grant of election tickets.

Former MLA, K Mruthyunajayam, who hails from Karimnagar assembly segment, joined the AIFB recently in the presence of its state vice president Ambati Joji Reddy.

Joji Reddy said AIFB would contest around 60 assembly seats across the state including 13 in the united Karimnagar district.

Around 92 members were elected from the AIFB as public representatives across the state in the previous local body elections.

The BSP led by state party chief RS Praveen is slowly making a mark in the united Karimnagar district with a strong set of followers. The party has a strong cadre in Peddapalli, led by Dasari Usha. She has started an extensive political campaign in the Peddapalli assembly segment. She hopes to win the seat in the coming polls.

The party is also strong in Rajanna Sircilla, Manakondur, Choppadandi and Ramagundam assembly segments and ready to field its candidates in the assembly elections to give a tough fight to the three major political parties.
