BJP, YSRC welcome SC verdict on article 370

Vijayawada: The BJP and the YSRC have welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on Article 370. State BJP president Daggubati Purandeswari said this was a historic verdict.

Article 370 was repealed in Parliament in 2019. Today, the Supreme Court upheld this. “The BJP is opposed to the concept of two prime ministers, two national images and two flags for a country. It has now been affirmed that Kashmir is an integral part of the country,” she said.

She recalled the arrest of Shyam Prasad Mukherjee when he went to Jammu and Kashmir, followed by his death in a suspicious manner after he objected to Article 370.

YSRC Rajya Sabha member Vijayasai Reddy said Kashmiri migrants finally got justice. “The Congress had committed historical mistakes vis-à-vis Kashmir. It was because of Jawaharlal Nehru that the Kashmir issue raged for many decades. Nehru refused to accept the proposal made by then ruler of Kashmir, Maharaja Hari Singh, to merge Kashmir with India. Taking the Kashmir issue to the UN was another of Nehru’s mistakes which led to the introduction of Article 370 in the Constitution in 1949,” he said.

He appealed to the Union Government to increase the monthly allowance of Rs 13,000 to Rs 20,000 per month to the families of Kashmiri Pandits who have migrated from Kashmir to other parts of the country due to the troubled situations there.
