Jodo yatra priority, Revanth’s padayatra later: Thakre
HYDERABAD: nWithout ruling out PCC chief A. Revanth Reddy’s proposed padayatra, AICC in-charge Manikrao Thakre urged partymen to prioritise the January 26 ‘Haath se Haath Jodo Abhiyan’.
In order to review the preparedness of the Pradesh Congress in taking forward AICC campaigns aimed at spreading Rahul Gandhi’s message of Bharat Jodo, Thakre will be in the city on a three-day visit from January 21.
Briefing media persons about his two-day visit to Telangana, he explained that since the PCC chief was of the opinion that the padayatra should cover each and every district in the state, his proposal was feasible, albeit at a later date as the immediate priority was AICC campaigns.
“The party will be deliberating and designing the programme (Revanth’s yatra) after Reddy comes up with a proper plan in consultation with other leaders,” he clarified, while replying to a question.
The Maharashtra leader said that among the major responsibilities was in streamlining the party’s strengths to ensure a win in the next election. “Strengthening the organisation for succeeding in the next Assembly is also the aspiration of the AICC chief. We are sure to achieve it,” he asserted.
Earlier Revanth Reddy, who introduced the leader to the media, said “Similar to K. Jana Reddy, who worked efficiently as a home minister in the YSR government, Thakre worked similarly in the Sharad Pawar government in Maharashtra.”
He said that post-Sankranti, the state leaders will start working at the grassroots levels and spread awareness about the yatra at the mandal and district levels.
Thakre will be announcing the Haath se Haath Jodo local committees during his next visit.
