Such remarks unnecessary now, says Dinesh Gundurao
Hubballi: Differences have cropped up between state presidents of the ruling parties – Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress – 10 days before the Lok Sabha poll results on May 23.
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundurao has expressed displeasure on the statement of JD(S) state president A.H. Vishwanath who had claimed that not much developmental works had happened during the tenure of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
He also expressed anger against Vishwanath for his claim that a few Congress leaders were trying to flatter Siddaramaiah by supporting him for the post of Chief Minister again. Such statements were unnecessary at this juncture, said Mr Gundurao while advising Vishwanath to control himself while issuing these statements.
Responding to Vishwanath's query on why the strength of the Congress was reduced to 76 Assembly seats from 120 if the performance of Siddaramaiah as CM was good, Gundurao maintained that the Congress secured more votes compared to other parties. Stating that the question of Siddaramaiah becoming Chief Minister again is irrelevant, Gundurao said that it is responsibility of leaders of both the Congress and JD(S) to follow the 'coalition dharma'. "
“Vishwanath is in a responsible position as president of the JD(S) state unit. He should think carefully before speaking against the Congress. We have already given unconditional support to the JD(S) and there is no question of changing the CM for five years", Gundurao said.
