HYDERABAD: In a dramatic display of its displeasure at the BRS government not keeping its promises to youth in Telangana state, BJP senior leader and the party’s national executive member N. Indrasena Reddy, set fire to a copy of a page from the BRS’ 2018 election manifesto promising Rs 3,016 monthly unemployment allowance to the unemployed youth in the state.
“This BRS manifesto is only worth shredding and setting fire to,” Indrasena Reddy said as he lit the copy of the page from the ruling party’s 2018 manifesto. “There are also jobs in the state but the state government is not filling them,” he told a news conference.
Asked about talk of change in the state party leadership, Indrasena Reddy declared, “We have our president, and there will be no change till the elections.”
The Narendra Modi government at the Centre is increasing opportunities by setting up 7 new IIMs, and equal number of IITs, 15 new AIIMS hospitals, increased medical seats from around 69,000 to 1,52,000, and the number of universities from 390 to 1,113. In addition, 1.37 crore youth have been trained under the PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana, he said.
Party spokesperson Kishore Poreddy said minister K.T. Rama Rao should release a white paper on his claims that some 9,05,000 jobs alone were created in the IT sector in the state and that for everyone such jobs, three other associated jobs were created. This would mean that more than 27 lakh jobs in all should have been created around the IT sector alone, but the Telangana State Statistical Abstract of 2022 says Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Ranga Reddy districts have a total employment of 34 lakhs.
