Naidu's Visit to Kuppam for Launch of '1 Lakh Votes Majority' Campaign

Tirupati: Special significance is attached to the visit of Telugu Desam leader and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to Kuppam in Chittoor district from Wednesday on a three-day tour of the constituency.

Naidu’s visit would, among other things, see the launch of TD's ‘One Lakh Vote Majority’ campaign in his home turf on Thursday. Meanwhile, the party cadres are set for a confrontation with the government over the delay in grant of construction permissions for Naidu’s house in Kuppam.

MLC Kancharla Srikanth, addressing the media recently, alleged that the government was intentionally delaying permissions for the house construction.

Naidu aims to secure a majority of one lakh votes in Kuppam that he has won and represented in Assembly for seven consecutive terms since 1989. Notably, the TD had tasted defeat in Kuppam as also elsewhere in the recent local body elections. To overcome the shame, the TD is keen to win the seat for Naidu in the next Assembly polls with a record margin.

With this end in view, the party has formed a coordination committee led by MLA Srikanth.

According to the MLC, Naidu would give the necessary guidance to the party leaders and workers on how to achieve the one-lakh majority target. This initiative also aims to counter the ruling YSRC’s slogans of ‘Target Kuppam’ and ‘Why not 175’.

Srikalahasti's former MLA SCV Naidu and a former district chief of the Congress Suresh Babu, along with their followers, would formally join TD in the presence of Chandrababu.
