Bengaluru: The Congress is contemplating ordering a judicial probe into the suicide of DySP M.K. Ganapati. However, this will depend upon the application pending before the court.
The Legislature party particularly the CM camp is hesitant and wary of an opposition attack on the party during the debate on the DySP, M.K. Ganapati suicide case. However, they were seen more relieved on Tuesday as they realised that there was no meeting point between the opposition party on this issue.
"We may order a judicial probe and be done with it. We know they (opposition) will accept this. They want a CBI probe and the dismissal of K.J. George from the cabinet," a MLA in the CM camp said.
The CM camp's strategy of ordering a judicial probe is based on an internal assessment: Since Ganapati was a Kodava, therefore, his suicide will not have any impact on people outside Kodagu district whereas IAS officer D.K. Ravi' death issue was an issue that connected with people from Vokkaliga dominated nine districts because he was a Vokkaliga.
"So, the government agreed for a CBI probe. This episode was not bigger than Ravi case in terms of impact value. So, we will not budge from our stand and at the most, we may settle for a judicial probe," he said.
