Make good use of nine months to win elections: CM Jagan

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has advised his Cabinet ministers to make good use of the coming nine months before the next polls by mingling with the masses and taking the government’s developmental and welfare activities to the people through mass outreach programmes.

According to trusted sources, the Chief Minister asked the ministers to be more cautious from now on to avoid giving a chance to the Opposition to target the government and the YSRC in any new way. He also asked them to expose the “campaign of lies” from the opposition, by mingling with the public.

The state Cabinet held its weekly meeting on Wednesday. Discussing the ongoing Jagananna Suraksha programme, Jagan Mohan Reddy said it was giving wonderful results as necessary certificates were being issued to the people at the village secretariats free of cost.

He pointed out that the YSRC government provided welfare schemes to all the eligible without any political or other biases continuously for the past four years without a break and this should be highlighted during the mass campaigns.

The CM said in the crucial months ahead, ministers should not show any laxity vis-à-vis strengthening party cadres from the grassroots levels. “Work in coordination with the legislators and party leaders of your districts and segments,” he told them.

He said local development works identified during the mass interaction programmes should be carried without fail. “Retaliate against the negative campaigning of the YSRC government by the Opposition parties vis-à-vis the welfare schemes and development activities,” he said, and felt that there was a need to activate the counter-mechanisms against false allegations of the opposition parties.

The Chief Minister said that as per the welfare calendar, the government would release funds for the Jagananna Thodu on July 18, the Nethanna Nestam on July 22, the Sunna Vaddi on July 26 and the Videshi Vidya Deevena on July 28. He asked the ministers and legislators to actively participate in the welfare schemes and related programmes.
